The University of 91吃瓜 has joined with Yuan Ze University and the Far Eastern Group (FEG) of Taiwan to create a new and innovative executive development program to be offered July 30-Aug. 4 in Taipei.p. Titled the 鈥淣ew Economy and the Old Economy,鈥� the program will be taught by 91吃瓜 faculty in collaboration with their counterparts from Yuan Ze to 100 FEG executives and Yuan Ze Executive MBA students. The curriculum will focus on changes in business, leadership within the new economy, and strategies for leveraging and integrating principles of the new business environment.p. 鈥淭his is a novel approach to international education,鈥� said Carolyn Woo, Gillen Dean of 91吃瓜鈥檚 Mendoza College of Business. 鈥淲e believe that by bringing together the expertise and experience of three organizations from two countries, this program will be of tremendous value to the participants from FEG and Yuan Ze as well as the faculty from both universities.鈥漰. 91吃瓜 faculty who will travel to Taiwan to teach in the program are Roger Huang, Meyer Professor of Global Investment Management and chair of finance, and management professors J. Michael Crant, Daniel Conway, Jerry Wei and James Davis, who also serves as codirector of the Mendoza College of Business鈥� Gigot Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. The initiative was developed and organized by the college鈥檚 Executive Education Program.p. 91吃瓜 and Yuan Ze entered into a cooperative agreement in 1995 to promote educational ventures between the two universities. The arrangement has included the exchange of students and visiting scholars, internships, and continuing education programs.p. Douglas Tong Hsu, chairman and chief executive officer of FEG, serves on the boards of both 91吃瓜 and Yuan Ze and played a principal role in facilitating the original agreement between the two universities. Hsu earned bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees from 91吃瓜 in 1965 and 鈥�66.p. FEG is one of Taiwan鈥檚 largest conglomerates, engaged in manufacturing, retailing, shipping, transportation, financial services, telecommunications, construction, hotels, higher education, and health care.p. Yuan Ze was established in 1989 and now serves some 6,800 students. It was selected last year as the best university in general education by Taiwan鈥檚 Ministry of Education.
