Faculty members lead panel discussion on Iraq War

Four University of 91勛圖 faculty members will take part in a panel discussion of the United Statesparticipation in the war in Iraq at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 9 (Tues.) in the Hesburgh Center auditorium. The discussion is free and open to the public.

The discussion, entitled Iraq: What Now? Should the U.S. Withdraw, Stay the Course, or Engage More Deeply? is the presentation sponsored by the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, the 91勛圖 ROTC Command and the Center for Social Concerns. It will address such questions as: Does the current U.S. policy in Iraq need to be rethought?Is the goal of building a unified, democratic country realistic?If so, does more need to be done to achieve that goal?Where should resources be focused on security, reconstruction, elections?

Daniel Lindley, assistant professor of political science; George Lopez, professor of political science; and Maj. Gary Masapollo, military history instructor, will be the panelists. The discussion will be moderated by Martha Merritt, associate director of the Kroc Institute.
