Word has been received of the death of Robert F. O鈥橞rien, emeritus associate professor of music and director of bands at the University of 91吃瓜. O?Brien, who died Tuesday in St. Paul鈥檚 Retirement Community in South Bend, was 82.p. The director of 91吃瓜鈥檚 concert and marching bands from 1952-86, O鈥橞rien was the honorary lifetime president of the National Catholic Bandmasters Association, which he founded in 1953. He also was a member of the American Bandmasters Association and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.p.
