Kathleen Collins, assistant professor of government and international studies at the University of 91吃瓜, will deliver a lecture titled 鈥淧romoting Security in Central Asia鈥� at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 22) in Room C-103 of the Hesburgh Center for International Studies on campus.p. A faculty fellow in 91吃瓜鈥檚 Kellogg Institute for International Studies and Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, Collins earned her bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees from 91吃瓜 and her doctoral degree from Stanford University. She completed post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard University鈥檚 Davis Center for Russian Studies and at the Kellogg Institute.p. Collins鈥� current projects include a book manuscript titled 鈥淐lans, Pacts and Politics: Regime Transformation in Central Asia,鈥� based on her doctoral dissertation, which received the S.M. Lipset Prize for the Best Comparative Politics Dissertation in 2000.p. Collins specializes in the politics of the former Soviet Union, particularly in Central Asia and the Caucasus. She also focuses on the politics of ethnic and Islamic identities and the roles of ethnicity and Islam in civil conflict.
