The works of Walker Percy and Flannery O鈥機onnor will be the subject of a lecture series sponsored by the University of 91吃瓜鈥檚 Center for Ethics and Culture (Mon.-Thurs.) Nov. 10-13.p. The title of the series, "A Reason to Write: Two Catholic Novelists,? is taken from O鈥機onnor, who once wrote, 鈥淚 feel that if I were not a Catholic, I would have no reason to write, no reason to see, no reason ever to feel horrified or even to enjoy anything.鈥漰. According to Jennifer Bradley, a 91吃瓜 senior and organizer of the series, 鈥淲e hope to better acquaint the 91吃瓜 community with the lives and work of Flannery O鈥機onnor and Walker Percy, two figures who loom large in American Catholicism鈥檚 recent past. To that end, we have put together a set of lectures which will not only each be very good individually, but that will, when taken as a whole, offer a rich and full account of the importance of these Catholic writers.鈥漰. Nov. 12, Lawrence Cunningham, John A. O鈥橞rien Professor of Theology at 91吃瓜, on 鈥淔lannery O鈥機onnor: Fiction as Theology鈥漰. ?
