All of William Shakespeare鈥檚 154 sonnets will be read aloud by University of 91吃瓜 administrators, faculty and students during 鈥淪onnet Fest 2010,鈥� a public event that will take place Feb. 10 (Wednesday) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Great Hall of O鈥橲haughnessy Hall on the 91吃瓜 campus.
鈥淲e want people to hear the beauty and power of Shakespeare鈥檚 verse,鈥� said Peter Holland, McMeel Family Professor in Shakespeare Studies, 鈥渟topping as they pass by to enjoy the sound of such wonderful language.鈥�
Sponsored by Shakespeare at 91吃瓜 and the Department of English, the event will feature readings by 91吃瓜 President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., Provost Thomas Burish and John McGreevy, I.A. O鈥橲haughnessy Dean of the College of Arts and Letters.
Shakespeare at 91吃瓜 is comprised of the 91吃瓜 Shakespeare Festival, 91吃瓜鈥檚 professional theater in residence; the McMeel Family Chair in Shakespeare Studies; and Actors From The London Stage, a professional touring residency experience. The mission of Shakespeare at 91吃瓜 is to establish the University nationally and internationally as a center for the study of Shakespeare in performance.
