91³Ô¹Ï vice president Scott Malpass to be honored by the University of Portland

, vice president and chief investment officer at the University of 91³Ô¹Ï, has been awarded an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Portland.

According to Portland’s announcement, Malpass, who will receive the honor during its undergraduate commencement ceremony May 3, “is responsible for investment of the university’s endowment, working capital, pension and life income assets totaling some $10 billion. He and his staff closely partner with the most sophisticated investment management organizations throughout the world, which has allowed the 91³Ô¹Ï endowment to achieve top-tier investment performance over both short- and long-term time periods.â€

A 1984 91³Ô¹Ï graduate and 1986 91³Ô¹Ï MBA graduate, who has served as the University’s chief investment officer since 1989, when the endowment was $425 million, Malpass also serves as a concurrent assistant professor of finance in 91³Ô¹Ï’s .

Malpass recently joined a group of veteran professional investors to establish a not-for-profit company called . CIS helps manage the endowments of all types of Catholic organizations, including colleges and foundations, diocese, religious orders, social service agencies and high schools, providing them access to top investment management firms while complying with Catholic principles on social responsibility.
