David Sikkink, assistant professor of sociology at the University of 91吃瓜 and a faculty fellow in its Institute for Educational Initiatives (IEI), will lecture on 鈥淐hoosing Private Schools: The Effect of Community and Religious Factors鈥� on Tuesday (Nov. 28) at 3:15 p.m. in the James Coleman Conference Room, 1024 Flanner Hall, at 91吃瓜.
Sponsored by IEI鈥檚 Program on the Social Organization of Schools, the lecture is free and open to the public. Sikkink鈥檚 main research interests are in education, religion and politics. In the lecture he will examine the community and religious factors that shape the choice of private schools for children.
Sikkink received his bachelor鈥檚 degree from Bethel College in 1985 and his master鈥檚 and doctorate degrees from the University of North Carolina in 1998.
